What are the functions of the American standard Mortise Lock?

Publish Time: 2020-04-10     Origin: D&D Hardware

American mortise locks are the best choice for commercial building doors. The strength of the doors and the locks used will have a major impact on the safety of the building. In order to choose the American mortise lock with suitable requirements, we need to understand the following question: how to choose the functions of American standard mortise lock? Which American mortise lock is suitable to use?

Here are some common American standard function mortise locks:

Function introduction of American standard Mortise Lock

1.       Entrance/Apartment/Dormitory mortise lock--F20

The ANSI mortise lock has deadbolt, latch bolt, auxiliary latch deadlock. The biggest feature of the full-function lock is that the custom function is complete, and the functions of other function mortise lock can basically be realized.

2.       Entry/Office lock—F04

The latch bolt operated by knob/lever from either side unless outside is made inoperative by key outside or by turning inside thumb turn. When outside is locked, latch bolt is retracted by key outside or by knob/ lever inside. Auxiliary latch deadlocks latch bolt when door is closed. Inside knob/lever is always free for immediate egress.

The biggest feature of the office lock is that when no one in the office, the one outside only can open the door with key. When the office owner is in the office, by turning the door knob, the visitor can be controlled to open the door with the key or directly turn the handle to open the door. In this way, when you don’t want to be disturbed in a certain period of time, you can change the door opening method inside the door to use the key to open.

3.       Classroom lock—F05

The lockbolt operated by knob/lever from either side unless outside is locked by key. Unlocked from outside by key. Inside knob/lever always free for immediate exit. Auxiliary latch deadlocks latch bolt when door is closed. Inside lever is always free for immediate egress. The biggest feature of the classroom lock is that it cannot be locked inside the door. Because it cannot be locked, classroom locks are also commonly used in public toilets or other public areas.

4.       Storeroom or Closet lock—F07

The latch bolt operated by key from outside or by knob/lever inside. Outside knob/lever always inoperative. Auxiliary latch deadlocks latch bolt when door is closed. Inside lever is always free for immediate egress. The storeroom lock can only be opened by turning the key outside the door, the administrator who holds the key can open it, and the storeroom lock can be automatically locked when the door is closed.

5.       Apartment/Exit or Public Toilet lock—F09

The latch bolt operated by knob/lever from either side, except when outside knob/lever is locked by key from inside. When outside lever is locked, latch bolt is retracted by key from outside or by operating inside lever. Auxiliary dead latch.

6.       Passage or Closet lock—F01

The latch bolt operated by knob/lever from either side at all times. Inside lever is always free for immediate egress. In the event of the fire, if the access door is closed, it will help control the fire within a certain range and slow down the spread of the fire. It can also reduce outdoor noise interference.

7.       Privacy lock—F22

The latch bolt operated by knob/lever from either side unless outside is locked by inside thumb turn. Turning inside knob/lever or closing door unlocks outside knob/lever or closing door unlocks outside knob/lever. To unlock from outside coin emergency release. Inside knob/lever is always free for immediate egress.

8.       Deadlock—F18

The deadbolt operated from outside by key, no inside operation. Use only on rooms with more than one exit. It is suitable for occasions with multiple exits in one room, such as tool room or electric room.

When you choosing an American standard mortise lock, you should not only pay attention to the level of the American standard mortise lock, but also need to understand the function of the American standard door lock and the type of door suitable for installation. Appropriate door lock is installed on the right door to maximize the function of the door lock. D & D hardware has been focusing on the production of door hardware for 12 years. The highest security grade Grade 1 American standard lock is made of high-quality stainless steel material. It is durable and has passed the UL fire proof. It is suitable for installation in various commercial buildings, public places and fire-rated door.
